Shine On: The Best of Lee Harris

 

‘Shine on: The Best of Lee Harris’ is a compilation of Lee Harris’ spoken word recordings released over the last decade. A soul journey of poetry and improvised spoken word with musical accompaniment from a wide array of composers and producers.

 

This musical compendium includes pieces from ‘Alchemy: 30 Years of Counter Culture’ released in 2007 with musical contributions from composers ‘The mystery School Ensemble’, Drum Druids & Tatsuji Mikajiri (a.k.a Pop) As well as a featured performance from Howard Marks. Also included are tracks from the album ‘Angel Headed Hip Hop’ in collaboration with Ben River as well as pieces from the two latest albums from the Moonlight Orchestra.

Lee Harris is a legendary figure from British counter culture, he has lived many lives: A political activist in apartheid era South Africa, actor and playwright during the swinging sixties, headshop owner in the Portobello Road, publisher of legendary comic series Brainstorm Comix and underground magazine ‘Homegrown’, spoken word performer during in the UK trance rave scene in London and more recently Mayoral candidate for the CISTA party.

This collection of music and spoken word is a testament to this pioneering, free spirited, loving and caring man. A beloved figure from the psychedelic underground scene & beyond.

After having released the three EP vignettes ‘When The Sun Ate The Moon’, ‘Frontier’ and ‘Tomorrows Child’ These three EP’s have now been collected into one place: The Yes/No Collection! A limited edition CD you’ll be able to get here on the Ben River store but also at live shows near you!

To celebrate this new collection Ben River and his band will be embarking n the YES/NO tour from Mid February until July, shows around London, Birmingham and Kent as well as some yet to be announced performances. Check out the Tour dates here

Ben River // Frontier EP

The second EP ‘Frontier’, from Ben River was launched on Septemeber 29th at Half Moon. This EP is the second in the series of three EP’s from Ben River to be released over the course of 2015.

The Moonlight Orchestra // Album Launch photos

The album ‘Traipsing Bloom’ from the Moonlight Orchestra, produced by Ben River was released earlier in 2015 and was launched at MMB on Portobello Road in West London, the launch included performances from special guest featured on the album including: Youth accompanied by Raja Ram and Nik turner, Lee harris accompanied by Nik Turner, Georgina Brett and Paul Bangash, Ben River and his band as well as other special guests.
