‘Shine on: The Best of Lee Harris’ is a compilation of Lee Harris’ spoken word recordings released over the last decade. A soul journey of poetry and improvised spoken word with musical accompaniment from a wide array of composers and producers.
This musical compendium includes pieces from ‘Alchemy: 30 Years of Counter Culture’ released in 2007 with musical contributions from composers ‘The mystery School Ensemble’, Drum Druids & Tatsuji Mikajiri (a.k.a Pop) As well as a featured performance from Howard Marks. Also included are tracks from the album ‘Angel Headed Hip Hop’ in collaboration with Ben River as well as pieces from the two latest albums from the Moonlight Orchestra.
Lee Harris is a legendary figure from British counter culture, he has lived many lives: A political activist in apartheid era South Africa, actor and playwright during the swinging sixties, headshop owner in the Portobello Road, publisher of legendary comic series Brainstorm Comix and underground magazine ‘Homegrown’, spoken word performer during in the UK trance rave scene in London and more recently Mayoral candidate for the CISTA party.
